Warhol also in SF

Speaking of exhibits, I saw pole banners on the way to work for the Jewish Museum. Looks like they are going to show and exhibit called Warhol's Jews. Weird name but apparently he did a series called Ten Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century.

Got me some shoes

I went to the Marina in San Leandro while trying to kill some time. Found this adorable sandal for just $24. Hopefully they don't hurt like the last 2 sandals I bought. They have some really cute shoes by the way. I saw some really cute pumps an sandals for $24 and $40 too. So I would recommend checking the outlest before you splurge on the expensive, trendy stuff.

I came I saw I shopped

Yes I made it there and yes it was a madhouse. I had no idea what it was gonna be like. Luckily there was not a line out the door. They did however lock the door a lil after I got there because there was no room to breath. The store was smaller than the LA store but seemed perfect for their stock, just not for a sample sale mob.

Anyways when I first got in there was already a line to the door for 1 of the 2 dressing rooms. I ended up behind that blond lady there. It was an L shaped store so here's the view from the front door (and back of the line).
Here's the other side of the store. As you can see many just skipped the dressing room and started trying things on right there by that display table. I can't front because I too tried on a shirt and coat there because I was not trying to get back in that line. You see when you get in you just have to grab what you can plus get a couple of sizes of it because its first come first serve baby. So when I got outta the dressing room there was new stuff people had put back. Which is where I got lucky...

What did I get you ask? I will post it up when I get home. I left work to attend this event just for 2 hours when it was supposed to be 1. But it was worth it indeed. I ended up with a dress I been feenin for and a nice tee. More to come...

new purchases

in the past few weeks i've bought an array of new items. my pepto-pink sunglasses were grabbed off a shelf at forever 21, nestled amongst yellow and white versions. the brown lens with the pink frame was too good. the watch was picked up a few shelves over. the face looks like it has mini gears imprinted in it, and best of all theres no giant logo ruining the design.
the sandals are part of H&M's tribute to marimekko. they're very comfy, and have that gladiator thing going on...
saving the BEST for last: the elliot smith photo book, by one of my favorite photographers autumn de wilde. this was picked up at green apple books here in sf. de wilde's style of shooting is non-imposing, intimate, everything you'd want from someone observing a delicate artist like elliott smith. the shots are amazing, and commentary from the likes of chris walla and matthew caws fortify it with more goodness...

The Gift & the Curse of H&M

I went to H&M last weekend and, of course, I bought some stuff. I told myself that I wouldn't shop for awhile. Gotta save. But I justified my purchases as classic staples to my wardrobe that I would enjoy for a long time. Haha! I'm good at convincing other to buy things now I am doing it to myself. Here's what I scooped up...

Tunic $39
High Waisted flowy skirt $49
with pockets!
Hi waisted jeans with Braid detail $59 (a lot for H&M huh)

Crossroads

So I'm a shopaholic which means that I buys tons of clothes I don't need. Thank god there's Crossroads Trading. If you don't already know they let you buy sell and trade used clothing. I like them better than Buffalo Exchange (they do the same stuff) because they are a little cleaner and seems like I get more money for my clothes. My favorite one in the city, there are a bunch, is the one in the Castro on Market. They seem to buy more and have cooler stuff that I can trade for.

Anyways, I went there this pass weekend with 5 big shopping bags in tow of clothes I should have never bought in the first place. I made a lovely 300 bucks which may have been more had I not laid my eyes on this beauty. Yes its a lovely Marc by Marc Jacobs Navy blue dress in my size! It was $55 cash but since I traded my old clothes (a little cheaper than that). They work by giving you instead of taking cash for your clothes, you can choose to trade. So I got 50% of the price they'd sell for in the store.

Oh and here's a similar dress I got at Forever 21 a few weeks before in black and gray.

saturday colors, sunday escape

to immerse myself in the good weather, saturday i ventured into the mission and was immediately loving the bright colors that seem to be missing in my neighborhood. notable stops included phil's coffee, buffalo exchange, dolores park, el farelito burrito...
sunday i escaped to santa cruz for a change of pace, and stumbled upon a flea market bursting first-rate vintage clothing. notable stops included streetlight records, jalapeno's burrito shop, flea market, steamers lane for a magnificent view of the pacific...
and the boardwalk...

polk street mornings

this bright and sunny morning i brought my camera on my usual stroll to work, and did a wee bit of window shopping and people watching…
these lovely ladies were so natural and cool, one minimal, the other playful...
left: the blue dress is simple, the draping neat, the hue is beautiful... her ferragamo shoes are perfect! very rarely do i see granny-style look classy, it's usually overdone in an i've-watched-harold and maude-too-many-times kind of way
(not to bash that film, it was after all, filmed here in sf..)
right: example of perfect layering while looking natural. the peppermint coat is my favorite
(part of my obsession with the white stripes perhaps)... her tan sandals are the crowning detail.

window shopping:
this red jacket may be found at cat seto, a light and friendly boutique with clothing (both lady and baby), dainty jewelry, and paper goods
mary jane spotted at in lieu, in which i have never been (off work too late)

these bottom two are packed with fun trinkets, candy, and the like. top kissmet, bottom la place du soleil

waiting for the train

this morning on my way past the F-train stop, i found my first photo-op with a stranger. i gave her the whole beginning-a-fashion-blog spiel, and she was a good sport posing at 8:00 in the morning. i thought her sweater was so neat- white, the rope belt, knee length, double breasted... cozy and perfect for winter.
