i think everyone is familiar with bob geldof, of the boomtown rats and live aid fame. lately though his daughters, peaches (peaches honeyblossom michelle charlotte angel vanessa geldof) and pixie (little pixie geldof) in particular, have taken over the british tabs. i love british style (british vogue is so much more colorful and edgy); i think these 2 with their babydoll dresses and costume jewelry + tattoos and controversy sum it up for me...

window shopping

over my morning cup o coffee, it's customary for me to check email, cnn.com and 'window shop,' in no particular order... todays browsing turned up these necklace by giles & brother. it incorporates different textures (which i love to find in jewelry): chains, rhinestones, and african beads.

hometown favorites

this weekend i spent in alameda with the family. saturday morning my mom and i went garage sailing (one of our favorite sports). we're always on the hunt for vintage fabric and knitting needles, and random sewing supplies. we had luck on our side because one of the stops had vintage fabric, which we bought 5 swatches of, and vintage CLOTHES!!! i grabbed a few dresses, a skirt and a blouse...we continued on to the alameda naval air base, where a book sale was being held in one of the old ballrooms.

the base is no longer active, but is a neat/spooky spot to cruise, being that there are so many empty buildings and houses. the book sale was a success as well, i had to stop myself and avert my eyes as i made my way to the check out line...when i got home i ran upstairs with one of the fabric swatches and sketched a simple trapeze dress. the fabric, which is rayon, is the perfect dress fabric: it drapes well and breathes like cotton the trickiest part was the collar and getting it to lay flat, which i sort of did by cutting it in a half-circle shape.finished and debuting on this autumny monday morning...

YES!! i was thrilled when leanne won, her collection was gorgeous! i still cant figure out how she made those ripple-y shapes, but i would wear all of it! very inspirational.my favorite was the wedding dress.and good luck to korto, i think shes such a badass.

Norma Kamali for Walmart

I found out a couple days ago that Norma Kamali did a collection for Walmart. So I immediately went to see if they have the cacoon sweater (see 2nd picture above) I have been lusting after for years (in a cheaper version of course). They did! ... too bad I have been trying to save and thought about it too long. So when I went to order they were all sold out! They only have white left though. I might get it anyways because prices range for 18 to 6 bucks +97 cents shipping! The collection isn't stellar but the prices on these remastered basics can't be beat.

i had this dream

last night i had a dream that i was shopping in a marc jacobs store. i walked outside to talk to someone holding an arm load of clothes, which i had meant to pay for, but what the hell if nobody stopped me why ruin a bad situation. i awoke feeling guilty. remind you of anyone?she did strictly wear his clothes in court... moving forward with this dream, had i stolen anything, it would have probably included bits of the following:
